Project SSLIDE is a teacher professional development project currently being conducted as part of the Australian School Innovation in Science, Technology and Mathematics Project, funded by the Australian Government Department of Education, Science and Training as part of the Boosting Innovation in Science, Technology and Mathematics Teaching (BISTMT) Programme. The project has been developed by staff of the Faculty of Education, Griffith University and Switched On Education.
Project SSLIDE has involved a number of schools and students across its duration, including those from urban, rural and tropical coastal communities. Schools who have participated in the project to date are:
- Arcadia Valley (via Injune)
- Condamine
- Dunkeld
- Graceville
- Muckadilla
- Murray River Upper
- Mungalalla
- Warrigal Road
The purpose of the project has been to explore the possibilities for learning that can be achieved when science learning is reported and shared using digital technologies. To this end, student participants have been creating short films/photo stories about a range of science projects and sharing these films via this website with students from other project schools and the broader education community.
Click on the map of Queensland to find a film about each of our project schools. These films were made by the children themselves and highlight the diverse environments these students live and learn in.
